The Katsina State Government has called on residents to promptly acquire their National Identification Number (NIN) due to its critical importance in daily affairs.

The Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, made this appeal during a visit by state coordinator of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in the state, led by Alhaji Ibrahim Illo.

Faskari expressed concern over the lack of equipment in some local government areas, forcing residents to travel to other locations to obtain their NIN. He assured that the government would continue to support efforts to ensure every resident of the state acquires the NIN.

In his address, the NIMC Coordinator for Katsina State, Alhaji Ibrahim Illo, stated that currently, only 21 local government areas have the necessary equipment for issuing the NIN. Illo urged the government to assist in providing the needed equipment to facilitate the process.

Furthermore, Illo emphasized the significance of the NIN for citizens and called on the government to intensify public awareness campaigns to ensure residents understand the importance of obtaining this identification.
